You can always tell when the waves are good
in Byron. During your day out and about you will sense a satisfied
happy calm behind the business of our town. There is also
a high percentage increase in smiles and good manners. Wave
rhythms come into town.
When
this 'surf osmosis' effect takes hold, worrieswash away and
problems get cut down to their real size. After a surf one
beholds that magic could be real. Perhaps. And what does this
wash in white foam of breaking waves really give you? A force
of nature comes through the bursting bubbles of foam, as pure
fresh oxygen. The Hindus call it 'Prana', the life source
in air, also found behind waterfalls. Its buzz stays with
you when you come in from the sea. Notice the fish market
owner who is so extra helpful and happy. You can bet your
boots he got a good body surf at the Pass this morning. Or
the liquor store clerk who has that 'happy go lucky' 'cat
that swallowed the canary' smile. He's a high floatation longboard
rider. Byron is a surfers town. Surfboarders, boggieboarders,
body-surfers, swimmers, surf skiers all savour their daily
dose of surf energy. Originally many of these tribal folk
with eyes of a hunters came here as what we might today call
'eco tourists' seeking our rich natural resourse of good waves.
Wishing you safe fun in the ocean.
