"If the bad guys don't get you, then the
good guys will". Buffy St Marie
Welcome to our special place, rich in natural environment
and unique souls. You will find the creativity level and way
of this place impressive. Even if you don't blend with a particular
style, you will certainly enjoy the pleasure of being immersed
in our deep pool of living styles. Here, as the scholar relates
in ChaucerŐs Canterbury Tales: "Gladly will he learn and gladly
teach." Byron will test your toleration and compassion levels
of acceptance. But for this effort in bend of mind, the rewards
are manyfold. Our proud claim here is that visitors leave
with an expanded outlook on life, and an enriched spirit to
take back to their own community. Many leave and take a part
of Byron with them, others just don't seem to leave at all.
This scenario's impact has resulted in Byron increasing
its pace considerably in the past few years. The locals struggle
with the contradiction that much of our promotion features
the laid-back and relaxed holiday. That it is for many indeed,
but on the upward swell of tourism ride those who seek heaps
of activity. From your accommodation, the Echo, the Visitor
Centre, the locals and The Byron Guide, you will find your
fill. In Byron you are invited to exercise that part of your
brain which scientific studies indicate is badly out of shape
in contemporary society. Those parts of life we leave or are
sidetracked off as we swim in the madness of the cold, creeping
tide of economic rationalism.
In Byron we have a strong bias for right side brain endeavors,
those which house your creative and intuitive features: dancing,
singing, praying, surfing, meditating, golfing, yoga, nature
immersion, and more. And even though science has not yet found
exactly where the spirit lives (thank God it cannot yet be
genetically composed) there are many here who are hot on the
trail to the Holy Grail. Come join our mission. This publication
is dedicated to the people who have built and maintained this
rare piece of live art called Byron. Here the customer is
always right except when they display bad manners. We ask
that you respect our space and ways, and here you will experience
magic days.
