Following the success of the Channel [V] / Billabong FREE RIDE tour, two of the nations most powerful youth brands Channel [V] and Billabong are proud to announce the DETOUR, traveling the East Coast of Australia in February the DETOUR is a free event that's sure to deliver the sickest music and skate action this summer.
Channel [V] and Billabong have joined forces to combine the best elements of music and surf / skate culture to bring you live shows and television like never before. The Channel [V] Billabong Bus is a double decker luxury touring coach and roadshow which will travel the country on the DETOUR this February. Like a mini music festival it will feature a giant screen, mobile stage, live bands, pro skaters and the Channel [V] presenters.



To top it off in an Australian first a 60 foot vert ramp will join the DETOUR setting up at select dates down the East Australian Coast. This is the BIGGEST skate ramp in the Southern Hemisphere!!! A team of international and local Billabong pro skaters will be doing their mind blowing skate thing on the ramp and visiting local skate parks along the way. Skate fans will be pumped to hear that BUCKY LASEK (USA CURRENT X GAMES VERT CHAMPION) will be part of select DETOUR events along with the USA's BRIAN PATCH (HELD THE RECORD FOR LONGEST JUMP IN 2001), JOCKE OLSSON (Sweden ) and ALI CAIRNS (London). The line-up will also include local legends RENTON MILLAR, BEN PAPPAS, JEFF ‘SKUNK’ WILLIAMS, BART CARNES and many more.
Kicking off in Townsville QLD, the Channel [V] Billabong DETOUR will weave it’s way though regional and metropolitan areas of QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC then head way south for its very first visit to TASMANIA.

Just like the previously successful [V] bus tours all DETOUR shows will be broadcast nationally. The free shows will showcase the [V] on air crew along with live music performances, special guests and co-hosts. Channel [V]'S ANDREW G and JAMES MATHISON will do presenting honours with other members of the [V] crew checking in along the way. The Channel [V] Billabong DETOUR will also screen Billabong's new surf flick 'STEPPING STONES' and never seen before skate footage to crowds as it travels down the Australian coast.



Along the way the Channel [V] Billabong DETOUR will feature top shelf Australian and international acts performing live. Artists confirmed for the Detour to date include resident bands MAGIC DIRT, 1200 TECHNIQUES and 28 DAYS. Each will spend a week on the bus before handing the baton on to their replacement resident band. Punters will even get the chance to win the honour of singing the closing song of the show with the resident band on national tele!
