Hi everyone

I'm from Mexico and I'm wondering if it's worthy to go all the way to Australia to study. Can someone help me decide if I should take the Multimedia Major at Sae ? Is it good ? Is there any other place better than Sae or is Sae the best one ?

Please help me.

Thanks

I've started the bachelor of digital media in march. I'm only doing my 2nd year as i've done the 1st one at SAE Geneva.

The campus here is really nice, but effectively oriented on audio facilities. The computer lab is not high end, but as a multimedia student, i think you will work on your own laptop Smile

The lecturers are quite good and care about the students. There is only a few multimedia students here, most are audio and film. We are only 2 from the march intake. But on your 4 weakly courses, only one is related with your major (multimedia), the others are common with audio/film (industry perspectives, etc). So if you are also interested in audio and film, you will meet a nice community of students. I can't really told you how it is here for the multimedia course, as ive done my first year in switzerland, where i had all the practice on digital imaging, webdesign, 3d, ... The 2nd year is almost only theorical, e-marketing, cultural analysis, etc. You ll have 100h of work placement too... This is a nice opportunity to go in cities for 3-4 weeks and discover something else. You also have a few projects related to your major.

Byron Bay is a small town. If you enjoy relaxing, beaches, sports (surf), you will like it. If you're addicted to nightlife with plenty of clubs, hmmm perhaps you wont find what you're looking for here Wink But for sure people here like to party and the live music scene is well present.

If you have some more precise questions, dont hesitate to ask.

You could also have a look for the QANTM College (googled it, i cannot post links on the forum Wink, specialised in new media. I think it is now affiliated with the SAE.

Sorry for my poor english... will be better in a few months Very Happy

It sounds nice but I just got a great offer here in mexico and I will be done by october or so, so if I go to sae it will have to be untill next year.

I think I will miss living in a big city but it sounds like a good place to live and probably a lot of nice people and pretty girls hahaha plus living over there has to be great. I lived in europe for 6 months and I love it there so now is time to go to Australia. I'm still trying to decide if I want to live like in sydney or something like that or in a nice beach more peacefull.

lets see what happen.

thaks for the info though

ciao ragazzo Razz

In the second year, you'll have the following modules:
- Professional studies (your major, so audio for you)
- Project models and research methodologies
- Industry perspectives and issues
- Cultural perspectives
- Business and intellectual property
- Roles of producers and directors
- Education applications
- Professional placement (100h)
- and your Creative Project (300h)

You will have 4x3h per week of lectures. The second year is based on writing of essays, and lot of research to do. You should count ~15-20h of extra work per week. That means that you can manage to have some free time to work for money or entertain yourself Wink

About the 100 hours of workplacement. It will be possible for you as an audio student to do it at studio 301, the professional studio located on the SAE campus. But you perhaps will prefer to search in Brisbane or anywhere else to travel. If you have already a good background in the audio industry, you can ask to your employer to certify it. Then you'll only need to write a reflective logbook on your experience in the industry. But I think its interesting even if you had a good work experience to work also here in Australia.

About english. Its not so difficult to learn in english. After a few weeks you won't realize how everything become so easy to understand Wink and you can always ask the lecturers / or your mates if you have questions...

I hope it has answered to your questions.
