Laughing oh please.

For the record - yes we bought byronbaynow.com. We paid money for it and we own it. We did not create it - I'm happy to let people know that. I would want anyone thinking I created that mess. Laughing

Soon it will be redeveloped. I look forward to erasing all trace of the original site - cos quite frankly, I too think it's pretty sh*t right now.

For the record - Bayweb has been around since 1995.

So um, you Obisghost, bought byronbaynow.com....?
If you think it's sh*t why did you purchase it?
It's not even well placed in google?
Looks like you're contradicting yourself just to agree with people who write to your site?? Rolling Eyes
Eh?

P.S At least byronbaynow has some human interest pages and a bit of local culture. Not only ads and sell, sell, sell!

I hope you keep some of that when you 'totally' re-vamp the site.

I'm not sure why you feel we need to justify our actions to you. Your passionate attempt to rock the boat only indicates to me that I may know who you are. So I won't spend any more time on you - you've wasted enough of it already.

I wish I hadn't missed this discussion.

I can't wait to see an improved version of byronbaynow.com

My personal views on the orriginal byronbaynow.com, was that it gave this region a bad name.

AND I'm glad to see the guys at BayWeb have already made some changes.

---

Also - I don't know what the first post about ripping off ideas is all about.

For those of you that don't know - Internet people are usually happy to share ideas - I know I talked at length to a site for a small town in Colarado back when I started with my site (I couldn't find any Aussie travel/tourism sites back then).

And I contuine to 'talk' to plenty of Intenet people locally, nationally and from around the world... that's what the Internet is all about!

Cheers
Rick

I love it when the big fellas come riding to the rescue! Rick rocks.

You probably noticed we removed the porn from bbnow - a good start I reckon.

Ha ha ha - yes, I had a look through (or followed a link to) byronbaynow - and did see a number of pages had been removed.

There are a couple of things here.

First, sites that bayweb.com and its creator(s) do are high quality and to a professional standard. So in applying that style and quality to byronbaynow.com, it will benefit, period.

Second.. As for advertising here on bayweb.com... Well if there is a $0 revenue stream supporting a website, it goes unsupported and stagnates. Websites do need to be managed and cared for, content needs to be update to remain relevant.

I bet (and I'm just guessing here) part of the pre-sale conversation would have gone something like this:

Obi and Team: “Look we are interested in buying the byronbaynow.com website”

Former Owner: “Oh yeah I might consider it at the right price, after all when I started byronbaynow.com I really wanted to make it into something special, something great but then I had X. Y. Z drama happen and X. Y. Z. came up so I just didn't get to develop it to that level"

Obi and Team: “Okay, well here’s a cheque for XYZ, now this should put your kids through a ‘never ever’ $100,000 university degree™ and buy you a small island in the Bahamas to retire to”

Former Owner: “Well it breaks my heart to see it go, but that Island sure will come in handy"

-end-

FOOTNOTE: Due to the speculative nature of this transcript, some aspects of the conversation may vary from what actually occurred, and may not be exactly as portrayed above.

At least (by the mere fact you are slinging off at Obi here is this forum no-less) you know that bayweb.com has some runs on the board with this and other projects. They are entirely capable of creating quality content without any editorial intervention from you - wow go figure! How did they manage to get this far without your all seeing eye? Got me beat.

As to stealing content well I'm perplexed.. You really should provide a case in point rather than just sling a bit of mud around.

- Cheers,

Julian Woolford.
